Well-developed farm of 14 917.5ha near Marydale in the Northern Cape. Marydale is 75 km north-west of Prieska and 120 km south-east of Upington. It is a small agricultural town with mostly livestock farmers as well as irrigation farms near the Orange river. Marydale district forms part of the Karoo and Boesmanland and close to the start of the Green Kalahari.
This beautiful farm with its rocky hills is about 10km from Marydale on the Putsonerwater road. The farm is on the border of the Boesmanland and Karoo and have qualities of both areas when it comes to vegetation. The region has an LSU of 1:32 (rainfall on average about 200mm/year) and well known for red meat production of the highest quality. This area is located close to the main gravel road and contains the homestead.
This part is 5 732ha and consists of 17 manageable camps that is mostly electrified. Only a portion on the other side of the main gravel road is not electrified. The electrified area is also sub-divided into smaller electrified blocks making predator control more effective. All camps have water (16 water troughs) delivered by 5 boreholes (1 windmill and 4 solar pumps). The water is then stored in 4 dams and 5 plastic tanks. This part has 4 sheep handling facilities with 3 in the veldt and 1 big facility at the homestead. This area has lots of different types of bushes (most tasty and nutritious), nutritious grasses, Shepperd trees, Swarthaak and many more all associated with the area. Fencing is in a satisfactory condition.
The homestead has 1 big house (+-400 sqm) with 5 bedrooms, bathrooms, living rooms and kitchen. All relatively modern and in particularly good condition. The house is neat and well maintained. The house has ESKOM power (private line). Water to the homestead is delivered by 7 boreholes located around the homestead (1x electric pump and 1 solar pump, the rest not currently used). All this watering possibilities can be developed and utilized for irrigation (lucerne) on small scale. The established feedlot (divided into 11 units) can be used to store about 600 sheep lambs. The property has 1 workers housing, 3 x garages, storage rooms, flat, 1 x big storage shed and a meat processing and cooling facility. The parameter of the homestead is electrified with electric gates and camera for safety purposes.
This part of 9 185ha (LSU 1:32) is a predominantly sheep farm with some Springbok roaming the plains. The farm is sub-divided into 23 camps all different in size. Water is supplied by 8 boreholes with solar pumps and windmills and stored into dams and tanks. Fencing is mostly in a good condition with some work needed on places. Most of the border fencing are jackal proofed and electrified with neighbors. The farm has 7 sheep handling facilities spread across the farm and in good condition. The farm has mixed vegetation consisting of different bush types (mostly nutritious) and spread across the farm with different grass types during the rainy season. This area is well known for its good nutritional vegetation and extremely healthy environment for effective sheep farming.
The farm has no homestead. There is a storing facility and workers accommodation but need some restoration.
This farm is ideal for someone looking for an economic unit in a safe and healthy area. No animals (sheep) will be included in the sale.
