Jacklin Organic’s core business is the production and supply of their unique brand of compost:Ecopost. Ecopost is a certified organic green compost product produced from whole composted invasive wattle trees including leaves and side branches, not just bark.By removing these water-guzzling invasive trees in this way, Ecopost benefits the environment by removing restrictions on precious water flow through river catchment areas and the risk of fire is reduced. Furthermore, wattle seeds are broken down during the composting process, thereby reducing the wattle seed bank in the environment. Because wattle is a legume which fixes nitrogen, the resultant compost, Ecopost makes a highly nutritious growing medium, perfect for vegetable gardening.
Ecopost bags are distributed to retail nurseries in Gauteng through Ball Straathof. Bulk Ecopost is supplied to land rehabilitation projects, farmers, nurseries and landscapers. This amazing product has won awards since 2007 in various categories for inventive business ideas, green contributions and entrepreneurship. Jacklin Organic also hire out their chippers to invasive tree clearing projects.
Jacklin Organic also farm and produce a range of fresh and processed certified organic vegetables, including dried tomatoes. All their certified organic fresh produce is grown using Ecopost on their farm in Badplaas, which is a highly nutritious medium for growing vegetables. Food products are made from ingredients harvested on the farm, which are processed and packaged on the same day.
