With the farm bordering the Orange River, the main source of agricultural water is surface water of the river itself as well as open canals.
Although the landscape in this part of the country is very arid, the soil of this farm on the banks of the Orange River is very fertile - rich alluvial soil, deposited over a period of time by the running water of the river. About 15 hectares of the listed land, is gravel soil and is irrigated.
